A fragment of a copper alloy Early Medieval cruciform brooch dating from the 5th or 6th century. It is 28.9mm long, 18.5mm wide and 6.1mm thick. It weighs 9.76gm. Only part of the foot of the brooch survives. It has a flat panel at the top, just part of which survives. Then there is a raised section decorated with transverse mouldings. Beneath this is the horse head terminal. It has protruding eyes but the rest is missing. The reverse of the foot is slightly hollow. There is the remains of a copper alloy catchplate. The brooch has a pitted grey patina and the breaks are patinated.
