Late Post Medieval rectangular double looped cast copper alloy buckle with drilled frame for a seperate iron spindle. The spindle is now missing along with the pin/chape. The frame is plain with a distinct arch in profile suggesting it is from a shoe, knee or hat. The centre of the long sides are expanded downards into an oval at the centre and drilled through the expansion for the spindle. It measures 39.7mm long by 33.3mm wide and 1.8mm thick. It weighs 5.37 grams. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, (2003) p104 which he dates from AD 1720 to 1790s.
