FINGER RING

Unique ID: WMID-E66414

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A silver-gilt medieval finger-ring, broken in two separate parts and distorted. The ring consists of a simple hoop, which broadens at the bezel to accommodate a four-petalled flower, probably a Tudor rose. The shoulders of the ring have a decorated surface with cross-hatching triangular in shape, following the proportions of the ring. The finger-ring is silver-gilt and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth century.

Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. J P Robinson
