A Late Saxon copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams (1997) Class A Type 14. It is triangular in shape with a zoomorphic terminal at the apex, and another zoomorphic projection on each side near the top. There are two empty rivet holes above the flange at the bottom, and one at the point where all three zoomorphic terminals meet. The centre of the mount is decorated with unclear zoomorphic decoration, but corrosion means the details are lost. The mount has a light brown colouration, with some areas with a surviving dark green patina. It has a length of 45.16mm, width 19.43mm, thickness 3.64mm, weight 15.85g. For reference see NMS-973461 on the PAS database. The mount dates from 1000 - 1100 and would have fitting onto the strap suspending a stirrup, immediately above the stirrup.
