A cast copper alloy figure of eight or 'spectacle buckle' from the 16th - 17th century. The buckle has a ridged 'D' section and a moulded shell at each end with small knops to either side of the central bar. The design features appear to be improved by filing, post casting. It is typical of Marshall Tudor type IIIc. The surface has a dark green patina and the pin is missing.
