BUCKLE

Unique ID: BUC-CC3543

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

Cast copper-alloy pin from a large circular buckle. The loop is open but apparently complete, with a tapering end. There is a worn raised panel at the junction of loop and shaft whichhas a single transverse groove above a longitudinal arris. The shaft is rectangular in cross-section and is now slightly bent

Compare the pin from IOW-13B7B1. Similar pins are found on large annular buckles from Salisbury (Goodall in Saunders ed 2012, nos. 20-22) which appear to date from the late 14th century.
