A fragment of a cast, copper alloy sword belt fitting, c. 1500-1700. It consists of a broken ring that carries the remains of a smaller ring, also broken, and a section of hollow-backed plate in the form of three lobes in a row. The plate is decorated with two shallow transverse grooves immediately adjacent to the ring. There is a copper alloy rivet in the centre of the first lobe. The fitting retains traces of gilding; elsewhere it displays a light green patina. It is 33mm long, 14.9mm wide and 8.4mm thick. It weighs 2.3gm. Reference: Bailey, Detector Finds 2, p. 48.
