49 rimsherds of several wheelthrown ceramic vessels of an miscellaneous (unsourced) local Romano-British oxidised fabric.

The sherds vary in thickness from 5.31mm to 7.28mm. In total they weigh 325 grams.

The sherds have a orangey-red oxidised fabric. Several variations on the oxidised fabrics are present, which probably relate to different kilns and different clay sources. It is very similar in style to Severn Valley Ware. Typically this style of oxidised ware dates from 2nd to 4th Centuries AD. A variety of different rim forms are present, from simple bead rims from a tankard, to everted rounded rims from a storage jar.

Sherd specific details:
Fabric type: local (unsourced) oxidised
Firing condition: oxidised exterior, oxidised core, oxidised interior.
Hardness: Hard
Surface texture: Smooth, powdery
Condition of sherds: Variable. Some sherds demonstrate a high degree of abrasion, with rounded edges whereas other sherds have sharp, fresh breaks.

A representative selection of the rimsherds have been photographed.
