A cast copper alloy trapezoidal shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame for a separate spindle, dating from c. 1660-1720. It has moulded pin rests in the form of leaves, and opposed scrolls flanking the spindle hole. The remains of the spindle are still in the spindle holes. The buckle has a dark brown patina. The plate and pin are missing. It is 26.5mm long, 17.1mm wide and 4.5mm thick. It weighs 3.62gm. Reference: Whitehead, Buckles 1250-1800, p.98, No. 611.
