A cast copper-alloy decorative mount of probable later Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is conical in form with faceted surfaces that give it a sexfoil form, the bottom edges also worked to produce 12 smaller facets around the circumference of the object. The back face of the mount is hollow and partially encrusted with compacted soil and some corroded metalwork, perhaps concealing the remains of an integral lug or similar means of attachment. The exterior surfaces have extensive tool marks and a dark brown patina. This object measures 26.46mm in diameter, 8.09mm in height, and weighs 10.82g.
This is probably a decorative mount perhaps used on a strap/belt or even as a furniture fitting. Its form is similar to Medieval and Post-Medieval sexfoil mounts and it is probable that it is of similar late Medieval to Post-Medieval, if not later, date.
