A lead alloy bird feeder dating from the late 15th to 18th centuries. The feeder is D-shaped in cross section and has a flared rim. The reverse is flat to enable the feeded to lay flush against another vertical surface, for example the sides of a bird cage. The bird feeder is undecorated apart from two parallel horizontal lines beneath the flared rim. There is some damage to the reverse. These objects would have been filled with water or seed and placed in the bird cage, with the flat back against the wall of the cage. Quite of number of these objects are found are all are very similar in design, although a few examples are highly decorated.
