A fragment from a Medieval brooch frame. It consists of a thick section of wire drawn through an ornamental boss, which is decorated on one surface with grooves and punches. The other side has been roughly abraded and lacks any decoration.
The fragment is silver and dates from the thirteenth or early fourteenth century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
