A fragment of a cast copper alloy vessel of medieval date. The fragment is part of the rim of a probable cooking vessel. The rim is roughly D-shaped in section though the reverse is slightly concaved and begins to taper towards the body. No traces of the body of the vessel survive. The breaks at either end of the rim fragment are very worn. Both the internal and external surfaces are flat, smooth and undecorated.
The metal is a dark brownish-green colour and is slightly worn. The fragment is 54.1mm long, 17.8mm wide, 3.1mm thick and weighs 13.5g.
While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type Geake, p.45 suggests a mid 13th to 16th century date for cooking vessels.
