A broken and incomplete copper-alloy medieval oval buckle frame with ornate outer edge (Meols type 8) which is missing its bar and pin. The outside edge has an expansion consisting of four knops, raised and separated by grooves on the upper surface. The sides are internally bevelled. The bar is narrowed and offset from the frame. The sides of the frame have been squashed towards each other. There are possible file marks over a dark grey metal.
The frame now measures 14.74 mm long by 21.22 mm wide; it is 2.67 mm thick and weighs 1.81 g.
A similar buckle can be seen on the database, HAMP-63556A. There is also a similar buckle from London which is published in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 73; fig. 44) no. 302.
