A cast lead spindle whorl or possibly weight. It has a flat top, a larger, slightly concave, base and tapering sides. there is a large tapering circular hole running through the centre (wider at the base). It is 22.6mm in diameter, 13.9mm tall with a hole 10.2mm in diameter at the base and 8.9mm at the top and weighs 29.81 grams. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval - Post Medieval.
