Part of a cast, copper alloy bracelet probably dating from the Iron Age or Roman period. Half of the bracelet survives, and unusually it is hinged. Both the inner face and the outer are convex. The outer is moulded into beads; domed areas divided by bands of ropework. The curface is grey and shiney and may once have had a white metal coating. The terminals are incomplete. One has a bead which is divided lengthways. Only one half of the lobe survives. There is a circular hole through it filled by a copper alloy pin which would have made a double hinge lug and axis bar is complete. The other terminal has the remains of a single central hoop. It is likel that the other half of the bracelet, which is missing, would have had another set of corresponding terminals to form a bracelet which could be hinged open to allow it to be removed. Ribbed or beaded bracelets are known from both the Iron Age (e.g. Stead & Rigby, 1999) and Roman periods. The hinge mechanism is unusual, but is more reminiscent of Iron Age bracelets and armlets than Roman period examples. There are few parallels on the database. They include YORYM1522 and NMGW-FD9FA1,
