A silver Roman Republican denarius of Julius Caesar, dating to the period 46-45 BC (Reece period 1). Reverse type depicting a Trophy with oval shield and carnyx in each hand, seated captives beneath, in exergue CAESAR. Mint of Spain. As RRC 468/1.

Struck for Julius Caesar during his third dictatorship, probably during his Spanish campaign of 46-45 BC. The coin is in very good condition. The obverse depicts Venus facing right, wearing a diadem with Cupid behind. The reverse depicts a trophy with oval shield and carnyx in each hand with a female​ captive to the left and a bearded captive on the right. CAESAR in exergue.
