A corroded, small early-medieval cast copper-alloy strap-end, classified as Thomas' (2003, 2) Class A, Type 1. This would date the artefact to around the ninth century. The strap-end is flat and sub-oval in form. The split attachment end is rounded and retains a ?silver rivet, but has otherwise survived well. The artefact tapers gradually towards the terminal which is more pointed, but still rounded. The moulded zoomorphic head terminal has ears in low relief formed of ovals with commas within. Within a low recess the main plate is decorated on its upper surface with an interlace pattern obscured by corrosion. The object has corroded to a dull red-brown colour with some patches of light-green corrosion product; there is a patch of iron staining on the lower surface.
