An incomplete early-medieval silver cut farthing of Harold I (1035-40) of fleur-de-lys type (c. 1038-40; North 804), mint and moneyer uncertain. Ref: North 1994: 171-8
The coin is worn and is missing its original central portion.
Notes:
The mint and moneyer remain uncertain with the only element of the reverse inscription reading LPII, probably relating to a moneyer's name. PII is also a listed mint name for Winchester and Worcester but the preceding letter in this case would with be N (from ON) or O (from M-O). LPII may form part of Wulfwine (known from Bristol, Huntingdon and Wallingford), Aethelwig (Worcester) and Aethelwine (Winchester).
Charles Bullock was the original 'secondary identifier' for the coin and was replaced for validation purposes.
