A probable horse harness or strap mount, dating to the post-medieval period. The mount is made from copper alloy, and is large and circular and has a raised central boss. On the reverse in an integrally cast rectangular loop. The depth of the loop suggests that whatever strap went was threaded through the mount was heavy duty, ergo the suggestion that this object is related to horse furniture rather than being a personal dress adornment. No comparisons could be found.
The mount measures 50mm diameter, and is 23mm thick (max). It weighs 34.7gms.
