Possibly one part of a copper alloy scabbard chape probably dating from the post Medieval period. The plate of metal is sub triangular, with one side straight while the other is curved. The point of the chape has been bent over and then back on itself, ending is a sharp point. It is unclear if this damage was deliberate. It has a length of 31.67mm, width 16.67mm, thickness 1.80mm, weight 5.26g. For reference see Bailey 2001. Detector Finds 2 pgs 70-74, especially number 4, though it is more ornate.
