An incomplete Medieval to Early Post-Medieval (c. late 13th to 17th century) cast composite two-piece copper alloy (with high tin content) button, missing its separate embedded wire shank. It is solid and globular in shape, measuring 5.93mm in diameter and standing 6.28mm in height, less the missing loop. It weighs 2.0g.

The metal has a shiny patina, silvery in appearance. To the reverse are two stumps of the missing iron loop.

Cf. Read 2005, Metal Buttons c.900 BC - c.AD 1700, pp.21-23 nos. 63-72. Read comments that although the majority of his examples are probably Late 13th to Mid-14th century in date, this style of button continued into at least the Early Post-Medieval period.
