An elaborate copper-alloy buckle and plate dating to the medieval period. The buckle frame is D-shaped in plan and there is a small notch for the pin on the lip. The pin bar is narrowed and recessed. The plate is rectangular in plan and decorated with a large moulded lion or mythical creature such as a dragon walking to the left. The beasts tail curls back over its back. The animal is set within a linear-ridged perimeterm with a double band of dots running around its interior. There are two globular-headed copper-alloy rivets through the plate. The object has been gilded.
