A cast lead or lead alloy possible spindle whorl. In plan it is sub-circular and in profile is rectangular with rounded corners. There is a central sub-circular perforation which is 10.96mm diameter at one terminal, the other is more narrow due to damage. The surface of the spindle whorl is undecorated and oxidised forming a cream colour. It measures 29.26mm diameter and is 15.75mm thick. It weighs 63.8g.
It is difficult to date lead spindle whorls, but anywhere between the Roman and Medieval period.
