Cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams' Class B, no group (but similar to Groups 1-3). The object is trapezoidal in plan with a central facing animal head and two tiers of apertures. It is decorated with seven openwork perforations. At the base of the flange is a rounded projection possibly meant to be another animal head. The angled flange has two rivet holes containing the remains of corroded iron rivets. On the sides of the object are rounded projections which probably are intended as a pair of animal heads in profile with prominent snout, brow and scrolling crest. The object has a mid-green patina and can be dated to c.1040-c.1100AD. Similar examples can be found on p.95, Williams, (1997).
