A cast copper alloy of a Roman brooch, possibly a derivitive of a bow or knee brooch. The brooch has an enclosed spring, but is fragmentary in its survival, retaining only part of the spring and pin and a little of the catchplate. Currently it cannot be assigned a definate class and research and consultation is ongoing, although the style of the brooch would date it to the 1st or 2nd century AD.
