TREASURE CASE : 2010 T251.
Description:
A complete gold finger ring of medieval date.
The finger ring consists of a thin wire band which widens at the bezel to accommodate a red oval stone. The stone is most probably garnet.
The band is undecorated and the interior shows signs of the metal having been rolled inward. A break is present on the hoop directly below the bezel.
Discussion: Similar example have been recorded such as DOR-B88E77 (2007 T296).
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
