A copper-alloy probable ferrule of uncertain date. It is formed of a sheet shaped to form a cylinder but is incomplete. It would have protected the end of an object such as a walking stick. The exterior surface is decorated with concentric mouldings. It measures 11mm in height. Similar cast ferrules are reported in the Roman period, notably from Colchester (Crummy, 1983: nos. 4103-4104) and on the PAS database from Bedfordshire (BH-7E1865), Wiltshire (WILT-EBDE02) and Suffolk (SF-9F7DD2). These indicate a possible date in the Roman period, although a later date cannot immediately be ruled out.
