Circumstances of discovery: While searching with a metal detector
Description: Bowl of a post-medieval, 16th century, silver spoon, made of very thin sheet, crushed and torn, with base of stem broken off. At the base of the stem, on the back, there is a maker's mark: 'EP'. Possibly the remains of another mark on the base of the stem, but this is now illegible.
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
