A late Iron Age – early Roman copper alloy brooch fragment, a Langton Down variant dating c. 15BC – 60AD.Only the upper part of the bow and spring case remains; the spring, pin and foot are missing.When complete this would have been a two-piece brooch with the spring housed in a folded spring cover which is formed from flanges cast on the wings.The bow is wide and flat with reeded decoration and the catchplate is usually perforated.
