A Post-Medieval cast copper alloy book clasp. The clasp has three holes, two of which are surrounded by a circle. The other hole seems (from the photo) to contain a rivet. The attachment end has incised diagonal lines and a row of straight lines as decoration. Similar examples can be seen in Read, 1988 'History Beneath Our Feet', page 90-91, nos. 13, 14 and 20.
16th to 17th century in date.
38mm wide and 70mm long. 9g in weight. The object has a mid brown patina.
