Post Medieval cast copper alloy mount. It has a central D shaped section with incised radiating lines creating a scallop shell appearance. There are large lobed knops projecting from the opposite ends (one in the centre of the straight edge of the D one in the centre of the curve). The one projecting from the straight edge starts with a narrow projecting bar which expands into a terminal in the form of a square flanked by triangles. The opposite projection has a large oval knop topped by a smaller more pointed oval knop with a horizontal incised line across the middle of it, possibly an acorn knop. The reverse of the mount is slightly concave and has two integrally cast studs 10mm in from either end to facilitate fixing to a leather strap. The colour is green-brown and the item is 39mm long by 20mm wide and weighs 6.03g. There are similar finds on the database e.g. LIN-2D0680 and LIN-4A3334. The design can be interpreted as looking like a stylised double headed eagle. It probably dates from c.1500-1700 AD.
