LITHIC IMPLEMENT

Unique ID: SF-350A14

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A group of eight unpatinated lithic implements, most of which demonstrate crude production techniques that are suggestive of a date range in the Middle to Late Bronze Age periods.

1)  A squat flake with hinge fracture and limited edge retouch forming a small notch. It has an obtuse striking angle and has no trace of cortex. This flake measures 39.75mm in length, 25.48mm in width, 9.63mm in thickness, and weighs 8.51g.

2) A squat flake with slight edge retouch around a convex distal end, possibly for use as a scraper. It has an obtuse striking angle. This flake measures 22.44mm in length, 31.95mm in width, 9.17mm in thickness, and weighs 7.09g.

3) A squat oval scraper with twin bulbs of percussions and obtuse striking platform. The dorsal face has approximately 30% cortex. It measures 27.60mm in length, 26.40mm in width, 11.46mm in thickness, and weighs 9.25g.

4) A thick, irregular flake with limited crude edge retouch along one edge on bulb face and with cortex at the distal end. It measures 43.81mm in length, 26.16mm in width, 11.17mm in thickness, and weighs 13.29g.

5) A thick, irregular flake with limited edge retouch or use weaer including a possible notch. It has an obtuse striking platform. This flake measures 43.39mm in length, 23.33mm in width, 11.75mm in thickness, and weighs 11.47g.

6) A small thin flake with limited edge retouch and a small amount of cortex. It measures 27.74mm in length, 20.43mm in width, 4.07mm in thickness, and weighs 2.34g.

7) A small flake, possibly a very small oval or end scraper. It measures 17.87mm in length, 20.42mm in width, 6.14mm in thickness, and weighs 2.05g.

8) A small thin flake with limited edge retouch. It measures 18.39mm in length, 16.79mm in width, 3.11mm in thickness, and weighs 1.05g.
