The cast copper-alloy suspension loop of a strap fitting, Post-Medieval in date, probably 17th century.
Trefoil shaped flat object with three loops, each with a central circular piercing, and a short stub projectig between two of the loops at one side. It is not clear if the stub is complete or broken from a worn break. It is 21.3mm long, 18.7mm wide and 3.0mm thick; it weighs 3.28 grams.
Similar trefoil fittings have been found attached to hooked mounts e.g. DOR-68FC94, SUSS-4422A3 and Read (2000:30, 42) No. 362.

I prefer this as a pendent hanger from a post-medieval hooked mount (cf. e.g. Read 2001, 42; ref. 362)
Thanks Rob. The record has been changed accordingly so it no longer reads as from the head of a key.
