HOOKED TAG

Hooked tag made from a very grey copper alloy. The plate is flat and circular, 14 mm in diameter, and is decorated with a low-relief double six-petalled rosette. Each of the petals in the outer ring has two oval depressions. Above the plate is a rectangular loop. On the reverse is a raised rectangular area which may be the start of a broken-off hook. It is covered with iron corrosion, so alternatively the raised area may just possibly be the remains of solder used to attach a separate iron hook. Total surviving length, 20 mm.
