Complete cast copper alloy short flanged axehead, probably related to Type Callendar, dating from the Middle Bronze Age period c. 1400-1200BC. The axe survives in complete and in very good condition. The edge as well as the top of the butt are very worn, but overall the surfaces are in fair condition. The cross section is rectangular and the flanged are flat diamond-shaped. There is no stop ridge, but a small, low edge to stop the haft from pushing forwards. Even though there is a shallow crescent-shaped moulding, this is functional rather than ornamental and the axe is plain without any further decorations or mouldings. A similar find comes from Cumming Carr, Pilling (Lancashire, Schmidt and Burgess 1981, no. 537).
