SOCKETED AXEHEAD

Fragment of socketed axehead. The cutting edge has an ancient break. Axe appears to be relatively straight sided and slim, with a very small flare at the slightly curved cutting edge. The socket is to one side of the axehead. There are no obvious signs of wear and much of patina remains. This axe is well made and in good condition with smooth casting flashes and many blade slashes. Cutting edge width 44mm, weighs 28.60g.
