DEBITAGE

Unique ID: HESH-7C4E72

Object type certainty: Certain

Six pieces of struck flint; at least three of which suggest tertiary waste from tool making. The other three exhibit irregular flake scars and hinge fractures which might suggest natural frost damage rather than working. One flake is burnt; all flakes are low grade flint common in tool assemblages from the marches. The worked flakes can be broadly dated to the Late Mesolithic or Neolithic tool making tradition c.4500 – 2500 BC. Bulk Weight: 42.75 grams
