This is a copper alloy, Romano British dolphin/bow brooch from the mid 1st century AD. The brooch has a hollow semi cylindrical crossbar, from which the spring, pin and topmost attachment lug, are missing. The bow tapers from the top to the foot with the remnant of a catch plate to the back of the bow. There is just a hint of a linear decorative ridge that ran from top to bottom of the bow. The brooch is heavily eroded with an overall dark green patina.
