A complete cast copper-alloy Roman penannular brooch frame dating from c. AD43-410. The pin is missing, but the brooch frame is complete and survives in an excellent condition, with a high shine patina which has worn under the pin loop, giving it a brassy appearance. Both terminals survive, both culminates in round knops, decorated with incised lines, arranged in a spiral formation. The brooch itself is a light mid brownish-green in colour and has a smooth, shiny patina. A similar example can be seen in Hattatt, p.339, fig.1278.
