An incomplete whetstone. A pale greenish grey fine grained, hard siltstone with some iron staining. The stone has a rectangular, almost square, cross section and is rectangular in shape. All four longitudinal faces have been worn with use resulting in them becoming slightly concave and in the stone tapering towards the break. The surfaces are also smooth. This object was found in an esturine deposit which the finder has assessed to be Roman in date. Date. Roman Dimensions: 77.44 mm x 40.04 mm x 43.29 mm Weight: 189.96 g
