Roman copper alloy brooch fragment comprising the upper bow dating between 25-75AD. The fragment is possibly the remains of a strip brooch either an Aucissa or a Hod Hill derivative from which they probably developed. The bow has an arched profile and the head is rolled forward under and over the axis bar of the hinged pin. The head of the bow is decorated with a vertical moulded groove and a beaded row of raised squares. Unfortunately the foot of the brooch is missing. The length is 13mm, the width is 13mm and the weight is 0.65g.
