A Medieval cast copper alloy mount. It is a bar mount which is rectangular in plan with a sub-triangular cross section. One end of the bar terminates in a narrow rectangular knop with a rounded end. The other terminal is a hook that bends upwards a little before an old break. The bar has a transverse ridge a little before each end, and there is a rivet hole between it and the terminal at each end. One copper alloy dome headed rivet survives. The mount has a green/brown patina. It has a length of 45.32mm, width 8.37mm, thickness 3.92mm, weight 6.66g. For reference see example ESS-99A0D6 on the PAS database, which refers to an example in Read which sound very similar. The mount probably dates from 1250 - 1400.
