A copper-alloy scabbard chape of medieval date (c. 14th/15th century). The object is of sheet metal construction bent round into a broadly trapezoidal form. There is an obvious seam/overlap on one of the larger faces, and creases at the tip where the metal has been folded; the other larger face is flattened somewhat. The attachment end is asymmetrical, with incurved removals going lower on one side compared to the other. On the lower side, on the side of the chape, there is a small perforation. The chape is plain with a variable mid-green patina. A comparable chape can be found illustrated in Ottaway and Rogers (2002, 2904; ref. 14395).
