A cast copper-alloy leg from a post-medieval cooking vessel. The foot is 'clawed', with five moulded claws, the central one being the widest, and a transverse rib above. Three ridges extend above the rib running up the leg. It has broken at the junction with the body. The cross-section of the majority of the leg is therefore sub-triangular; the reverse is flat. The object has become corroded, from a dark brown colour, to an orange-brown metal overlain by light-green corrosion product. The darkness may be associated with fire damage. A similar leg can be found illustrated in Butler et al. (2009, 6; ref. 4c). Such legs were common the 17th century on all types of cooking vessels (small cauldrons, skillets, posnets), although an earlier date cannot be ruled out.
