A cast copper-alloy horse-harness pendant. The pendant is a quatrefoil in plan with a triangular knop in each corner. The edge has an integral stem fragment which was originally the loop. The pendant is decorated with a high-relief fleur-de-lis with blue enamel in the field. The reverse is undecorated. The pendant measures 27mm long, and 26mm wide. It weighs 7.5g. The harness pendant dates to the Medieval period and were most popular in the 13th and early 14th century (Griffiths, N. 1986 Horse Harness Pendants Finds Research Group Datasheet No. 5). However, Steven Ashley suggest a mid fourteenth century date for pendants of this shape.( Ashley, S. 2002 Medieval Armorial Horse Furniture in Norfolk East Anglian Archaeology 101 p.23)
