SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: SOM-168C50

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Flint scraper on a tertiary flake of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The object is long and thin in shape and sub-triangular in cross-section. It has a slightly curved central ridge on the dorsal face. Along the left side of the dorsal face is semi-abrupt, long, subparallel retouch, becoming finer and shorter at the very edge. The distal end curves inwards slightly and a small amount of semi-abrupt, short, scaled retouch can be seen along the edge of the dorsal face here too. The butt is small and has been deliberately rounded and the bulb is fairly diffuse. There are several small flakes missing and patches of rolling round the edges that have occured following deposition. The flint is mid-grey in colour with a shiny patina and some orange staining. Length: 31.35mm, Width: 16.17mm, Thickness: 10.11mm, Weight: 5.5g
