FINGER RING

A complete cast copper-alloy signet ring of late medieval to post-medieval date (c. 15/16th century AD). The bezel is oval and flat (L.: 15.5mm, W.: 10.25mm). Carved in intaglio within it is an initial 'W' surmounted by a crude crown in the same plane as the shoulders. The internal diameter of the hoop is 16.05mm. It is 3.6mm thick at its lowest point. A parallel can be found illustrated in Saunders (ed. 1991, 46; ref. 24).
