SIDE SCRAPER

Unique ID: SOM-B0ECE4

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Flint scraper, probably of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Tertiary flake. The object is sub-oval in shape. Both the proximal and distal ends are long and curve out slightly, joining together to form a slight, rounded point in the centre of each side. At the proximal end of the dorsal face are several small, stepped removals, becoming larger towards the centre and largely removing the butt. There are a few long, abrupt, parallel removals to the right of the proximal end. Along the left edge of the distal end is short, scaled, semi-abrupt retouch. There is a hinged fracture line on the ventral face towards the distal end. The bulb is fairly prominent, but the lines of percussion are diffuse. Length: 47.51mm, Width: 37.91mm, Thickness: 13.13mm, Weight: 21.7g
