A probable late medieval copper-alloy book clasp of Howsam type A.1.3. The clasp has an attachment loop at one end with a rectangular aperture. The main plate of the clasp is flat and sub-semi-circular in shape. The plate terminates with a collared and pierced lug at 90 degrees to the plane of the plate. The piercing is around 2.7 mm in diameter. The front face of the plate is decorated with three ring and dot motifs, set around a central perforation (around 2.5 mm in diameter). The border around the attachment loop is decorated with trilobed decoration at the terminal. The reverse is undecorated. There is evidence of filing on both sides. The book clasp probably dates to the 14th - 15th centuries.
